Police investigate weekend violence

    Monday, February 16
    A 26-year old man told police he was leaving the Weekend Bar and Grill on St. Thomas at 3:15 a.m. when he heard several shots and went down on the ground to evade the gunfire. That the next thing he knew several persons were lifting him up and putting him in a private vehicle and carrying him to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center. He was shot once in his buttocks and the bullet exited through his thigh. The victim said he did not know who was shooting and he did not know why anyone would shoot at him.

     

    Saturday, February 14
    A 40-year-old male told police on St. Thomas that he had an argument with an individual around 6 p.m. and was later attacked with a machete by the same person. The victim was wounded on his left hand by the machete.  He was treated at the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center. The victim identified the suspect, Antonio Gooding, 51, of Hospital Ground and the suspect was arrested at 11:32 a.m. Monday. Gooding was charged with Assault First and held on a $75,000 bail pending further court action.

     

    Saturday, February 14
    There was a shooting male victim in the Havensight area on St. Thomas at about 3:37 a.m. Saturday February 14. The victim told police that he was involved in an argument and when he was driving away he heard several gun shots and was grazed by a bullet on his right forearm. The victim was uncooperative with police and did not give any further information.

     

    Friday, February 13
    A 33-year-old female reported to police that she was shot twice in the left leg by an unknown suspect driving a “blue-ish” Honda Accord. The victim told police she was standing outside of Club Lexus on St. Thomas at about 11:29 a.m. when the “blue-ish” Honda Accord pulled up and she had a short conversation with the driver who then pulled a black handgun and fired several shots at her, striking her twice in the leg. She was taken to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center by private vehicle.

     

    These cases are being followed up by the Investigation Bureau Detectives. If anyone has any information on these incidents they are asked to call the Investigation Bureau at 715-5522 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
