BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A 60 year-old man was, on Thursday (Feb. 20), convicted of unlawful carnal knowledge with a female under the age of 14.
Unanimously convicted by a 12-member jury was Wendell Welcome who committed the offence in January, 2011.
The prosecution team was lead by Director of Public Prosecutions Travers Sinanan who called five witnesses while the convict - represented by Marsha Henderson - chose not to give evidence on his behalf.
The convicted man is expected to be sentenced next month (March) following the completion of a Social Inquiry Report.
Now convicted, Welcome faces the possibility of imprisonment for the rest of his life.
