Minister’s brother escapes gunfire

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE younger brother of one of the Ministers of the Nevis Island Administration escaped with his life earlier today (Feb. 25) when - while on his way to work - the sound of gunfire broke through the air.

Information reaching SKNVibes indicates that De-Alje Liburd - brother of Junior Minister Troy Liburd - was on his way to the Public Works Department located at Prospect when - as it is reported - a masked individual chased after him with a firearm and opened fire on him.

Liburd reportedly ran for his life and made his escape over a fence. SKNVibes understands that he was unharmed.

Rumours suggest that gunfire was returned but to the assailant that has yet to be confirmed or denied.

The Nevis Division of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is making investigations into the incident and as at press time, no one had been taken into custody.

Individuals bearing information about this incident are asked to make contact with officers at the Charlestown Police Station at (869) 469-5391/5254.
