BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TODAY (Feb. 17) marks the 60th Anniversary of American Bakery and the company is celebrating it in grand style as it holds its day-long Customer Appreciation Day dubbed “Amory Day”.

For the entire day, customers have the pleasure of purchasing any product from the bakery, including pastries and ice cream, at half price. The bakery is also giving away over 5 000 t-shirts, pens and other trinkets in celebration of 60 years of quality service.

Hundreds of customers forced their way into the various American Bakery outlets and left satisfied with loads of pastries and ice cream with some visiting the outlets multiple times to take advantage of the half-price bargain.

Co-Proprietor of Amory Enterprises, Ernest Amory told SKNVibes that he is very thankful to be alive to witness achieving “this significant milestone”, adding that he must thank God for allowing the bakery to achieve 60 years in business.

“This is significant because it is a business which our father and mother started back on February 14 1949. We are very proud to have been able to continue the business successfully and to provide the people with the variety of products that we have been supplying over the past 60 years.

“Our business started with our father, the late Ashton Amory, from very humble beginnings in 1949. He once told me that he started with only five pounds of flour. And the business grew a lot and has been in various locations including Baker’s Corner, and the Corner of Cayon and Church Street until we moved to Victoria Road in 1973.

“The 50th anniversary was quite similar; we had approximately 1000 persons attend the grand fiesta that we organized to thank our hard-working staff and our many customers. Some of the members have worked with us for over 34 years.”

Amory said he hopes that the public would continue to support the organization as it continues to supply high quality baked products and make its contributions to the people of St. Kitts-Nevis.
