Basseterre, St. Kitts (August 18, 2005):
The Department of Sports has initiated construction work at the Newtown Playing Field, Sandy Point Recreation Ground as well as the St. Pauls and Mansion sporting complexes to boost safety and maximize the developmental potential of the facilities.
Most of these projects are nearing completion and total costs are estimated to run into the region of millions of dollars. A team from the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture toured the site at Mansions to assess the ongoing work.

Engineer George Gilbert at the Public Works Department is the project officer.  The Mansion pavilion, which is under construction, & comprises of bathroom facilities, players (dressing) rooms et al, he said. This building (will have) reinforced concrete with masonry block walls.

Contractor Marlon Henry grew up in the area and noted that it was a pleasure to spearhead the building efforts. Right now we are at the point where we have cast the intermediate beams and the block work is being done, so that we can construct the setting of the floor and we can get this project finished, he stated.
