    CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – A Cole Hill resident was today (Feb. 17) sentenced to 12 months in jail by Magistrate Yasmin Clarke for stealing two bottles of vodka from the Best Buy Supermarket in Charlestown.

     

    According to the prosecutor, a worker at the supermarket noticed Trevor Mulraine taking the items from lane four yesterday (Feb. 16) and leaving the supermarket without paying for them. The worker approached Mulraine to put the items back or she would call police. Instead of complying Mulraine verbally abused the employee and left the premises.

     

    The police were informed and they went in search of Mulraines who was found on Government Road with the stolen property – one bottle of Absolut Vodka and another of Russian Vodka. The items were valued at $41.27 and $33.28 respectively.

     

    In the same court, Oniel  Dowlin of Saddlers  Village was fined $1 000 after pleading guilty to possession of cannabis. The fine must be paid within three months or he will spend six months in jail.
