"I thought I was going to lose him," says victim's father

By: Court Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - "I thought I was going to lose him" is what Albert Millington Sr. told the Court yesterday (Mar. 4). He said that is what he thought when he saw his son lying in a hospital bed in February, 2011.

Millington Sr. is the father of Albert Millington Jr., the virtual complainant in the matter against Bryan Murray who is presently on trial for grievous bodily harm, an offence allegedly committed on February 12, 2011.

The father told the Court he received "a couple of phone calls" shortly before midnight on the date of the incident and as a result of those calls he received and what was conveyed to him, he proceeded to the JNF General Hospital.

He said upon reaching to the Accident and Emergency department at the hospital, he saw his son lying on a bed with what appeared to be blood coming from his abdomen.

He added that his son was hooked up to 'drips' and nurses were back and forth attending to him.

He testified that he tried to speak to his son on several occasions and "at times he would respond by looking at me and other times he would lapse".

Millington Sr. said his son would lose consciousness from time to time, adding that he stayed by his side and he was eventually admitted to the Surgical Ward.

He testified that his son had cause to see Dr. Cameron Wilkinson and another doctor for treatment and that he visited the hospital on several occasions up to three weeks after the injury.

Also giving evidence yesterday was Corporal Paula Hodge, who told the Court that she applied for a warrant in the first instance for an offence allegedly committed by Murray.

She said that upon receiving the warrant, she gave it to another Police Officer who then arrested and charged thee accused.

During cross-examination, Officer Hodge informed that applying for the warrant was the extent of her investigation in the matter.

She added that she took a statement from a witness but was unsure of which witness.
