LIME gives away Valentine’s Day Phone

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – VALENTINE’S DAY (Feb. 14) got a little sweeter for Lorraine Wilkin of Bladen Housing when she was announced the winner of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga’s (RCL) Valentine’s Day Raffle.

Wilkin’s prize was a Blackberry Bold cell phone, which was formally presented to her yesterday morning (Feb. 18) at the RCL’s weekly Wednesday Breakfast Meeting at the Marriott Vacation and Golf Club in Frigate Bay.

The winner expressed happiness upon receipt of her prize and thanked the RCL and LIME for the endeavour. She noted that as a recent retiree, she had become more careful of balancing her needs and wants and revealed that although she had always wanted to buy such a phone, she had never considered it a feasible idea.

According to RCL member and raffle organiser Dr. Larry Rawlins, Wilkin’s winning ticket beat out over 4 000 other entries. He gave some insight into the raffle, stating that it was one of the club’s fund-raising initiatives to generate finances for its many community efforts.

“The raffle began in late January and persons were charged EC$5 for a chance to win the Blackberry Bold, which was donated by LIME and has a value of EC$2 000. Tickets were available from any RCL member and the winner was drawn on Valentine’s Day on WINN FM,” Rawlins said.

LIME’s VP of Corporate Communication and RCL member, Laverne Caines stated that the company’s contribution to the raffle was yet another example of the good working relationship it possesses with the members and executive of RCL.

“We have collaborated in the past, such as with our ‘Make a Wish’ programme, and we have quite a good partnership. There are several LIME employees who are members of the club and we felt that this donation could be a way of giving back to the club for the many opportunities it had afforded us,” Caines said.
