BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - GREEN HOUSE athletes at the Tucker Clarke Primary School have come out victorious after outclassing the other houses during that school’s Sports Day event held at the Newtown Playfield yesterday (Mar. 6).

Sports days for the learning institution have always been dominated by Orange House which has won and within the past 10 years with the exception of 2012.

And this year, the Green House athletes pushed their way to a well-deserved victory, ending Orange House’s winning streak.

The event commenced with a March Past led by the Defence Force Drum Cops, followed by an inspection of the athletes by Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin.

Green’s dominance began with the first race in which they won and went on to dominate the rest of the day winning majority of the races.

Green House’s prowess was stamped when they won gold in five of the six 4x100m relays to the disbelief of many members of the audience.

The day’s standout performer was Kerrishma WIlliams of Green House who won the 800m, 400m, 60m, 100m and 200m races in the U-13 category. She also ran the anchor leg of the 4x100m relay, snatching the victory from the Red House athletes.

Another outstanding performer was Blue House’s Janekee Queeley who dominated in the girls U-11 category winning the 100m, 60m, 400m and 200m races.

Jahiem Huggins also stood out as the fastest boy in the school winning the 100 and 200 metre races.

Additionally, Dario Esdaille had a good afternoon, winning the 800m, 400m and 1200m. He however fell short of victory in the 60m and 200m races. He also played an important role in Orange House winning the 4x400m.

Judging from the performances witnessed yesterday, many spectators are of the view that the athletes from Tucker Clarke Primary School would be a force to reckoned with at the upcoming RAMS Inter-Primary School Championships which will be held at the Silver Jubilee Stadium.
