BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - KITTITIAN sprint sensations Jason Rogers and Brijesh Lawrence did their country proud today (Mar. 7) when they both advanced to the semifinal round of the World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland.
Both men - chosen to represent the Federation at the event - participated in the 60m Heats with Rogers running in the third and Lawerence in the sixth.
Arriving at the finish at ahead of the rest, Rogers clocked a time of 6.59 seconds.
Also performing well, Lawrence captured fourth position with a time of 6.63 seconds.
Both will represent the Federation in the semi-final round of the competition and according to Public Relations Officer of the St. Kitts Nevis Amateur Athletics Association Evris Huggins, the Association is “very excited and proud of our sprint sensations” and what they have accomplished.
He said they “went out and did what we expected them to do which is to execute very well and advance...”
The semifinals would be held tomorrow.
