BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2014 dubbed “the biggest party in sports” is set to come to the Federation, after an official announcement was made that Warner Park would be the host of nine games in the tournament slated for July and August of this year.

CPL Chief Executive Officer Damien O’Donohoe made the disclosure in the presence of  local media representatives today (Mar. 11).

“We will be hosting nine games here in St. Kitts and Nevis including the Semi-finals and Finals.”

He added that a number of individuals were involved in ensuring that the Federation would host games during the CPL.

O’Donohoe also announced that they are planning on having big international acts performing while the games are being staged.

“They were some people who were involved in this deal: Minister Phillip, Author Sharpe, Pete Russel and Vernon Springer. That is why we are late to this press conference today. We literally only singed the deal a half hour ago. You can imagine the amount of work that goes in and the planning to do a deal of this magnitude.”

Minister of Sports Glen Phillip stated that Federation’s bids were successful and eyes another opportunity for the Federation to display its characteristics to the world once again.

“After the games here are being announced today, preparation now begins throughout the region to execute a seamless incident-free and exciting CPL series. So I put the people of St. Kitts and Nevis on high alert that our bids were successful and we will receive another opportunity to treat the region and the world to a rich Kittitian and Nevisian culture, cuisine and other characteristics.”

He further highlighted past performances where the Federation proved itself.

“In 2000 the Caribbean was happy to call St. Kitts and Nevis the host for Carifesta 7. In 2007 we welcomed the world during the World Cup. Today, we are hopeful for another opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with our regional partners.”

Following the announcements, both Phillip and O’Donohoe publicly signed the agreement to bring the CPL to the Federation

The CPL is the largest cricket tournament in the Caribbean and the 2014 season is set to bowl off on July 11 and conclude on August 16, 2014.
