BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - CAYON Primary School’s Sports Day showed a great deal of promise for the institution’s athletes as they head toward next weekend’s RAMS Inter-Primary School Championships.
Red housers at the school were in celebration mode as they were victorious at that Wednesday, March 12, event.
The athletes came out at the St. Mary’s Park in Cayon and showcased to the public the abilities and potential they possess to defend their title, as the four houses battled for supremacy.
Setting the tone for Red House was Kalem Bridgewater who set a new record mark in the boys 800 meters in a very impressive display in that event.
Red house’ dominance though was underlined by Dequana McSheen who maintained her superiority in the sprints that many have come accustomed to over the last few years.
She set new records in the U-11 girls 60 metres, 200 metres as well as winning the 100 and 400 metres. McSheen also anchored the 4x100 metres for her house and fought back from last place to win the race.
Records were also set by Sherisma Fahie in the 800 metres and Deandre Mckenzie in the 60 metres.
Despite Red House’s Sports Day dominance Gold House won the overall points standing.
Judging from the performances witnessed at the day’s event, many spectators are of the view that the athletes would are a force to be reckoned with at the RAMS Inter-Primary School Championships which will be held at the Silver Jubilee Stadium.
In a close call in 2012, Cayon Primary School was successful in pulling out all stops to emerge winners of the Championships.
