Beach Allen leads First Day RAM’S Primary School Championships

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ATHLETES of Beach Allen Primary School are leading their counterparts at the end of Day One in the 2014 RAM’S Primary School Championships.

     

    The championships are being held at the Silver Jubilee Stadium with the first day now in the bag.

    Leading the charge for Beach Allen Primary is Raceem Thomas. He won the Boys Under-13 High Jump while completely outclassing the other competitors and setting a new record of 1.54m and commanded the attention of the crowd who applauded every time he successfully cleared a new mark.

    And on the distaff side, Shalice Thompson, also from that school, won the Girls Under-13 800m in 2:39:27.

    Other outstanding performances came from Kadijah Mulley of St. Paul’s Primary, who won the Girls Under-13 High Jump with a height of 1.33m and placed second in the 800m.

    Dekrawnya McSheen of Cayon Primary won the Girls Under-11 200m in a time of 28.72 and was third in the Long Jump, while Trishanie Warner of Sandy Point Primary captured the girls Under-11 Long Jump with a mark of 3.91m and was second to McSheen in the 200m.

    Dr. William Connor Primary’s sprint twin of Kyema and Kyella Rawlins snapped up the top two spots in Girls Under-9 150m in 22.98 and 23.26 seconds respectively and continued their dominance in the Girls Under-9 80m dash.

    Defending champions St. Paul’s Primary and the Sandy Point Primary are tied for second position with three gold medals each. 

    Dr. William Connor Primary won two gold medals are placed fourth, while four other schools are tied with one gold medal each.

    Of the 19 registered schools, 15 of them have won medals.

    The athletes returned to the Stadium at 2:00 this afternoon for the final day of competition, and among the events expected to take place are the 4X100m, 400m, 1200m and 100m Finals.
