Mr. Everton Cannonier

    March 24th, 2014  --  Everton Cannonier, football coach and trainer, became the eighteenth coach of St Kitts and Nevis to receive a coaching scholarship to train at the prestigious Semmelweis Institute of Coaching and Sports Education in Budapest, Hungary.

     

    The course, which runs from March 17th to June 6th, 2014, covers general subjects such as training theory, sport physiology, sport pedagogy, sport psychology, conditioning and sports specialization.

    While expressing his thoughts, Mr Cannonier stated, “I am just happy to have been awarded this opportunity to increase my knowledge and skills and to return home and work with football players”.

    Since 1997 the St Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (SKNOC) has facilitated the attendance of a number of local coaches at this institute at a costs of approximately U.S $12,000.00 per coach. The 2013 recipient was strength and conditioning coach, Mr Allister James.

    The SKNOC wishes Mr Cannonier all the best as he pursues his diploma in the sport of Football. In related SKNOC news, the 2nd edition of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) will be held in Nanjing, China, on August 16th to 28th, 2014, and the SKNOC will make its second appearance at these Games. Mr Iston Williams, Chef de Mission for the St Kitts and Nevis’ delegation, will travel to Nanjing on Monday 24th March to attend a Chef de Mission Seminar that would update participants on the preparatory plans and progress of the Games.

    It is expected that the SKNOC National representative team will comprise of athletes from the sports of Table Tennis and Athletics.
