Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 31, 2014 (SKNIS) -- The brotherhood between law enforcement around the world was evident last Thursday (March 27) when Commissioner of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) Celvin G. Walwyn joined with police from around the United States to honour the service of Officer Robert German, who was killed in the line of duty.
German, 31, was an officer with the Windermere Police Department in Florida. He was tragically killed after a subject stop (encounter) with two individuals. A Guard of Honour from the Orange County Sherriff’s Office (OCSO) in Orlando, Florida attended the funeral. Commissioner Walwyn, a former member of OCSO, is in the State on official duty and accompanied his colleagues to pay tribute to the officer. OCSO is a sister agency of the RSCNPF.
The attendance by various law enforcement agencies reflected the bond between police internationally. Commissioner Walwyn highlighted this connection during his address at the recent graduation of police constables in St. Kitts and Nevis.
“This Force Number is a symbol of the largest brotherhood and sisterhood in the world,” he stated, holding up the symbol used to identify local police. “It doesn’t matter that you are a police officer here in St. Kitts, anywhere you go in the world, once the word police officer is mentioned amongst your brothers you are accepted.”
