Kittitian-born cricketer and administrator honoured in Canada

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 7TH 2014 (CUOPM) – Former St. Kitts National cricketer and Leeward Islands cricketer, Mr. Ingleton Liburd, was on Saturday 5th April honoured at the Inaugural Cricket Canada Hall of Fame celebration in Toronto, Canada. 

     

    Ingle as he is better known has made a significant impact on the development of the sport of cricket in Canada.

    Mr. Liburd was as a member of the Leeward Islands Youth Cricket team and also a member of the St. Kitts National team in the 1980's. Soon after immigrating to Canada he established himself in the Canadian National Cricket team.

    In the 1990’s, Mr. Liburd represented Canada in three ICC Trophies and the Commonwealth Games as team captain.

    After having played cricket while living in South Africa for almost a year, Mr. Liburd returned to Canada. Soon after, he accepted assignments in St. Kitts and Nevis where he served as Manager/Coach of the Len Harris Cricket Academy, Territorial Development Officer for West Indies Cricket Board, President for the St. Kitts Cricket Association, as well as Vice President for the Leeward Islands Cricket Association.

    Mr. Liburd returned to Canada after some years and continued this work with Cricket Canada. He is currently the Domestic Development Manager with Cricket Canada and the coach of Canada U19 cricket team.
