BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Bronte Welsh Primary School was given an upgrade last Thursday (Apr. 24) in the form of a play area for the children to enjoy during classroom breaks.

Speaking with SKNVibes, the school's Principal, Anthony Wiltshire, informed that the play area was a donation made by the Rotary Club of St. Kitts which presented two swings, two seesaws and one monkey bar valued at EC$10 000.

He said the play area was presented by Mrs. Vicki Cramer-Blaire and the funds were donated by the parents of the Parkside School in Cobham, Surrey, England.

Wiltshire mentioned that Jackie Cramer and Gordy Nicholls were both instrument in ensuring the school received the equipment and gave a heartfelt thanks to all who participated in making the donation possible.

"The Bronte Welsh Primary School family would like to express its gratitude to all the persons involved, especially Mrs. Vicki Cramer-Blaire and the local co-ordinators for being instrumental in procuring these essential equipment for the children of the school."

Wiltshire took the opportunity to note that because of the school's population, fund-raising has proved a difficult task and called on the public to assist with earning the institution's necessities through donations.

"Considering that Bronte Welsh Primary is a small school, we are unable to raise the necessary funds needed for such activities like the larger schools, so we are always very appreciative of any benefactor who would contribute to the school, be it academically, sports or otherwise.

"At this time, we use this opportunity to also appeal to the general public to make similar contributions to our institution which continues to grow from strength to strength."

Wiltshire informed that the school is presently in need of a stove, which would be essential for the Breakfast Club the learning institution would like to introduce.

"There are some children who definitely could do with breakfast and so we want to start a Breakfast Club, and a stove would greatly assist us in that area. So we appealing to the general public for the donation of a stove to the school."

He said that the stove is the most critical item Bronte Welsh Primary is presently in need of.
