BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE young man who died as a result of traffic accident which occurred last night (May 4) has been identified by the police as Alec ‘Mega’ Browne of Gingerland, Nevis.

Public Relations Officer attached to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Inspector Lyndon David told SKNVibes that the incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. along the Island Main Road in Stoney Grove, in vicinity of S. L. Horsford’s Hardware, Nevis.

He also informed that it was a single-vehicle accident and in addition to Browne, another individual - whom he identified as 19-year-old “Nigella Browne” of Westbury - was occupying the vehicle at the time of impact.

He said both were transported to the Alexandra Hospital following the incident but Alec succumbed to his injuries while Nigella is receiving treatment for whatever injuries she may have sustained.

Browne’s death is the second to have occurred as a result of traffic accident for the year. The first - which also occurred in Nevis - was that of Julius Manners of Hicksman Village.

That incident occurred on February 1 and he was reportedly operating a motorcycle when he encountered some difficulty and crashed. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Inspector David issued a word of caution to motorists to “use the road safely and wisely and govern yourselves accordingly”. He said this includes observing and obeying traffic signs.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
