Man shot at Strip... In "serious but stable condition"

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A Lime Kiln Project man was rushed to the Joseph N. France General Hospital during the early hours of today (May 5) after he reportedly sustained “multiple” gunshot wounds while at popular hangout spot, The Strip in Frigate Bay.

A police press release issued this evening informs that as revealed by initial investigations, “Kazard Brookes”, a 27-year-old, “and a friend were standing next to their vehicles when they were attacked by armed masked assailants”.

The Public Relations Officer for the Police Force - Inspector Lyndon David - told SKNVibes that the incident occurred sometime after 2:00 a.m.

SKNVibes understands that they were fired upon and Brookes was reportedly struck more than once. The release makes no further mention of the “friend” and whether or not that individual was physically affected by the incident.

It however indicated that Brookes - whom SKNVibes understands is aliased ‘Menace’ - “was rushed into surgery and is in serious but stable condition”.

The incident, according to the release, is being investigated by the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) and “anyone...having Information pertaining to this incident is asked to call the VCU at 662-9336, the nearest police station, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS). Remember, your information will treated with confidence and you maybe eligible for a reward”.

    Investigations are ongoing.
