BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 23rd 2014 (TUCOM) -- Another magnificent show of support and solidarity for Team UNITY was on display at the 4th in a series of Listening Tour Town hall meetings held at the Sandy Point Community Centre. A packed and overflowing hall telegraphed the high interest of the people of St Kitts and Nevis in the Team UNITY and its message of Prosperity for ALL.
The Listening Tour was ably chaired by Claudius “Hardest” Gumbs. Three solid presentations were made by Lindsay Grant, Team Unity’s candidate for St Christopher 4, Hon Shawn Richards Team Unity’s candidate and Parliamentary Representative for St Christopher 5, and Team Unity’s Leader, the man designated as the next Prime Minister, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris. Dr Harris the popular representative for St Christopher 7.
In his presentation Mr Lindsay Grant addressed the threat to democracy posed by Douglas’ manipulation of the voters list, and Gerry mandering. Mr Grant said the people of constituency #4 deserves a representative of their choice, chosen in free and fair elections, he was confident that he would win constituency #4. Hon Shawn Richards addressed matters pertaining to his constituency. He provided convincing evidence of his strong support, advocacy, agitation and leadership in the constituency.
Team Unity’s Leader, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris discussed the implications of the United States Travel Advisory on the abuse of St Kitts and Nevis passports by economic citizens. He called for a reform of the system and a new era of openness, transparency and accountability. He reminded his highly enthusiastic audience of Team Unity’s programme for repairing the economy, bringing sustainable growth, placing young people into decent jobs, reducing student loans, making mortgages affordable, removing VAT from food, medicine and funeral expenses, abolishing fees for pre schools and supporting farmers and small and middle size enterprises.
The Tour ended on a high note. Ms. Cindy Demming delivered the Vote of Thanks with grace and efficiency. It was a night well spent.
The next in the series of Listening Tours goes to Conaree where the Hon Eugene Hamilton, the well respected Parliamentary Representative for the people of St Christopher 8 will be joined by Mr Ian Patches Liburd, Team Unity’s candidate for East Basseterre, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris and other members of Team Unity in bringing Unity’s Prosperity Agenda for public discussion and support and also to LISTEN to the people.
