BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - PREPARATIONS have only just begun, but organisers are already promising a bigger and better event this year for the fifth staging of Latin Fiesta.
SKNVibes spoke with Kajola Kristada's General Manager José Rosa and the company's Shipping Supervisor Aiduleik Rodriquez, who both stated that this year's event would be one to remember.
Rosa told this publication that they have already set the venue for the event and would be having an official signing ceremony soon. The week-long festival, he said, will be held at the Marriott beach and will run from October 20 to 26.
Although not going into full details and considering the festival is still in its planning stages, Rosa did however indicate that the theme would not be geared towards any specific country this year, but instead the event would encompass all themes from the four previous years and simply be called Fifth Anniversary.
Rosa also indicated that folklore would be the main focus for this year’s festival.
"This year, we are focusing more on folklore aspect of the Latin roots and will emphasise that. People are going to see more activities and they are going to see a different expression. They are going to see many activities that link the Caribbean with the Latin American countries through African roots," Rosa said.
He also said they have already signed a number of artistes and bands, including one from the Federation, and that they would soon be announcing the names to the public.
Rodriquez expressed that attendees could expect a bigger, more energetic week of activities for this year's festival as it would showcase more events with greater opportunities to interact.
"The people can expect more energy this year. We are going to have a bigger show and we are going to have more ways to interact in our week of activities through all kinds of cultural expressions. We will have movies, artisans, painters...things like that. People are going to be excited! We are making sure that the fifth anniversary will be amazing," he explained.
Rodriquez said that the four previous years were good but this upcoming festival would be mind-blowing as they are working hard to bring more to the table; while Rosa stated that people would not only remember the final concert this year, but the entire week of activities.
Rosa informed that they are working closely with the Federation's government, specifically the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
