BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ALL roads lead to Warner Park Football Stadium tomorrow evening (May 29), as RAM’S Village Superstars FC will battle against S.L. Hosfords St. Paul’s United FC in the first of the three-game Final of the Final Four Playoffs in the 2014 SKNFA Premier Division Championship.
In addition to being crowned the Federation’s 2014 Premier Division Champions, the winner will have a one-year bragging rights.
RAM’S Village Superstars, which led the league at the end of the regular season and finished with a perfect record in the Final Four Playoffs, arrived at the Finals with wins in all three of their games.
They defeated St. Peter’s 2-nil in their first game before a ‘come from behind’ victory over HE Garden Hotspurs to secure a place in the Finals. Their final game was a 2-nil victory over St Paul’s to finish on nine points.
On the other hand, St. Paul’s, which was placed second in the Final Four Playoffs, had played to a tame nil-all draw against HE Garden Hotspurs in their first game before defeating St. Peter’s 2-nil in the second.
With Garden Hotspurs’ failure to beat St. Peter’s, it meant that St. Paul’s had to join Village in the Finals, but they however lost the physiological advantage and finished on four points.
Both finalists have tasted past success in this competition with Village winning on four occasions, the latest being in 2011, St. Paul’s have won it twice.
St. Peter’s ended the Final Four in the cellar with one point and failing to score a goal while Garden Hotspurs finished third with two points.
Game two of the Finals is slated for Saturday (May 31) and, if necessary, game three will be played on Thursday (Jun. 5)
All games begin promptly at 8:00 p.m.
