Brantley beats the drum of UNITY at large, energetic PAM Convention

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 28th  2014 (TUCOM)  --  For over a week the Island of St.Kitts was a buzz with the news that “The Sheriff” Hon. Mark AG Brantley, the deputy Premier of Nevis was making a grand official return to the political scene of St.Kitts.  The Deputy Leader of the ruling CCM in the Nevis Island Assembly was invited to be the guest keynote speaker at the 49th Annual Convention of the Island’s main Opposition Party the People’s Action Movement.

    Brantley arrived and was lovingly greeted by the largest politicial convention of any party in recent history in the Federation. The Sheriff was in town and the massive audience made no bones about their love and admiration for the successful Lawyer turned politician.

    Brantley greeted the large crowd with messages of love and unity from the people of Nevis. The popular much loved and charismatic Leader of the Opposition told the audience that Team UNITY is testimony to the high level of love for country of the politicians of 3 main political parties and their magnanimous commitment. to put aside differences for the love of country.

    “This exercise in UNITY , this path along which we have embarked was not an easy decision. I stand before you as a proud Nevisian with my blue suit, blue tie and a dash of yellow in my sox for PAM. Over the years you would’ve seen Sam and Tim say things about me and I about them. You would’ve seen Shawn and Eugene get at it with persons from the other side.
     
    But I say to you that it is testimony to the love of country the elevation of country above self that we have all put aside historic differences and usher into being a new paradigm of politics in this country. If we are to live out the meaning of our creed Country Above Self.  If we are to stay true to the ideals of our forefathers then we must embark on this journey in UNITY. A  journey that will bring restoration of decency and good governance,” Brantley said Hon. Brantley continued by outlining some of the ideals that will be pursued by the historic new Team UNITY Government.
     
    “Team UNITY will be a government that is consultative and takes into account varying views of all. And make decisions that are informed decisions. Team UNITY will be a government that is the antithesis of the burgeoning and galloping dictatorship that we see today, “ Brantley declared. Prior to his Keynote address the Deputy Premier indulged in a performance by local drummers and himself played and beat the drums. The action was symbolic as the drums represented a cultural link from the past that resonates today. The drums that camE from Africa and on Sunday represented a symbol of UNITY. Brantley just as he did in his address BEAT THE DRUMS OF UNITY and the sound was sweet, beautiful and inspiring.

    Brantley concluded by reiterating his and his party the CCM and the people of Nevis’ full support of UNITY in the federation . A declaration that was very heartily welcomed by the massive audience. 

    Present at the Convention along with the Deputy Premier was a Nevisian contingent which included his NIA  Cabinent colleagues Hon. Alexis Jeffers, Hon. Troy Liburd and Legal Advisor Colin Tyrel. Also Present were key CCM Figures Keith “Dis and Dat” Scarborouohh and Oscar “Astro” Browne among other supporters.
