BASSETERRE, St.Kitts- (FRIDAY, 30th MAY, 2014): The St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party candidate for Constituency Eight, Dr. Terrance Drew is calling on Eugene Hamilton to apologise for a recent derogatory remark made about Nevisians.
Dr. Drew is further of the opinion that the Parliamentary Representative should resign for uttering such insulting words towards our fellow nationals.
“I must say how deeply disappointed I am with the derogatory statement Hon. Eugene Hamilton has made against the people of Nevis. The words are so repugnant that I refuse to repeat them”.
“I call on Mr. Eugene Hamilton to apologise and resign forthwith. The statement is as repulsive as can be”, he added.
Dr. Drew apologises on behalf of Constituency Eight for Hamilton’s rude and unpatriotic attitude.
“I take this opportunity to personally apologise on behalf of the people of Constituency Eight and to assure the people of Nevis that this statement does not reflect our collective sentiments towards our Nevisian brothers and sisters. Be assured that very soon Constituency Eight would have good and responsible representation because I, Dr. Terrance Drew and the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party are ready to serve you".
Dr. Drew is also questioning Hamilton’s trueness as a candidate of the Team Unity concoction of which one of its deputy leaders, Hon. Mark Brantley, hails from the sister isle of Nevis.
He has further pointed out that Hamilton’s offensive statement about Nevisians are similar to sentiments expressed by another Team Unity candidate, ex- senior Government minister Dr. Timothy Harris about non-Kittitians; labelling them as individuals who ‘banged’ water to come to the Federation.
“The repulsive statement is in keeping with a certain hateful pattern towards non- Kittitians. We recently heard Dr. Timothy Harris words against Cuba, his statements about ‘bang water’, his statements against Chinese and now this highly offensive statement against the people of Nevis by Hamilton”.
