BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 4th 2014 (CUOPM) – The rehabilitation of roads in St. Kitts continues.
Workmen over the weekend opened up the road leading from Bird Rock and its environs to the new round-a-bout leading from the East Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB).
The new round-about that also links Pond Road, the Kim Collins Highway and the Frigate Bay Road, is part of an EC$30 million reconstruction and rehabilitation project.
Minister of Public Works, Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin said the rehabilitation of the Dr. Kennedy Simmonds Highway, the Frigate Bay, Pond Road, Sandown Road and New Town Bay Road, is expected to result in an improved efficient and safe transportation system.
The project is being done in various phases and creates jobs and reduces congestion, fuel usage and vehicle maintenance costs when completed.
