BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE individual who allegedly sexually assaulted a tourist while aboard a cruise vessel that visited St. Kitts is said to have been arrested and charged in relation to the incident.
The authorities were reportedly alerted of the alleged incident on Friday (Jun. 6) and they immediately commenced investigations.
Information which reached SKNVibes initially, suggested that a crew member of the cruise vessel, which was berthed at Port Zante at the time, was accused of sexually assaulting one of the ship’s passengers.
This publication subsequently learnt that the name of the vessel is Carnival Valor and that the alleged perpetrator was taken into police custody.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd told this media house that the individual was officially charged for Rape and he is still in police custody. The DCP confirmed that the individual is an employee of the vessel but indicated that he would not give additional information.
SKNVibes is uncertain about whether or not the arrested man has made application for bail or if he has intentions of doing so.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
