BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE individual who allegedly sexually assaulted a tourist while aboard the Carnival Valor when it visited St. Kitts on Friday (Jun. 6), remains on remand at Her Majesty's Prison (HMP).
The accused man was arrested and charged with Rape shortly after the incident was reported.
SKNVibes understands that he was granted bail in the sum of $100 000 sometime last week but his intended sureties were unable to garner the funds.
This publication also understands that a request was made to have the amount reduced by at least 50 percent, but it was not granted.
The individual has therefore been remanded to HMP.
The authorities were reportedly alerted of the alleged incident on the day in question and they immediately commenced investigations.
Initial information which reached SKNVibes suggested that a crew member of the cruise vessel, which was berthed at Port Zante at the time, was accused of sexually assaulting one of the ship’s passengers.
The alleged perpetrator was taken into police custody and charged with Rape shortly after.
