Principal Morton submits letter to Education Ministry

BHS Principal Carlene Morton
By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – PRINCIPAL of the Basseterre High School Carlene Morton has reportedly submitted in writing reasons why she should not be taken before a disciplinary committee for alleged misconduct.

Morton reportedly opted not to participate in a late-April meeting with Ministry of Education officials and stakeholders surrounding the BHS and health and environmental issues.

According to reliable information reaching SKNVibes, she took that decision in solidarity with teachers who were unrepresented at the meeting.

She was asked to express in writing why she should not be taken before the Disciplinary Committee. This publication has however received information that Principal Morton had done so before the allotted time had expired.

This publication understands that the letter was submitted to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Ionie Liburd-Willett

It was originally stated that she had until Tuesday last (June 24) to submit the letter but this publication has been reliably informed that the deadline was Friday last (July 4).

Morton now awaits word from the Ministry of Education on whether or not her forwarded reason(s) would save her from having to go before the Disciplinary Committee.

SKNVibes had made numerous efforts to contact Minister of Education the Hon. Nigel Carty concerning the situation but, unfortunately, they were all futile.
