BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ONE of the three men wanted for questioning, relative to the double murder that took place on Wednesday (Mar. 4), has turned himself in to the authorities while another was captured.
According to a police press release, Sheldon ‘Sword’ Cannonier went to the Basseterre Police Station yesterday (Mar. 5) and presented himself to the lawmen.
Cannonier, as police have indicated, was wanted “for questioning” concerning the deaths of Akimba ‘Oil’ Whyte of Cardin Avenue, St. Johnston’s Village and Kwesi Twells of Manchester Avenue, Newtown.
The young men were gunned down sometime after 1:00 on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 4, 2009 while exiting the Rasco Tec Shop on the Infirmary Road.
Police say that a vehicle drove by and an occupant or occupants therein shot at and killed the young men. They were pronounced dead on the scene by the District Medical Officer, Dr. Reginald O’Loughlin.
Head of the Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Department, Inspector Cromwell Henry has informed that sometime last evening a police unit, acting on intelligence, went to the St. Peters area and removed Denzil ‘Para’ Williams from a house and took him into their custody for questioning.
The authorities are however still calling on the public to provide assistance in locating one other man, Bernard Berry, who is also wanted “for questioning”.
According to police, Berry is believed to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached if seen. Rather, persons seeing him are asked to contact the police at either 911 or 466-9279.
The police have promised that any information given would be handled with the strictest confidence.
