Patrons are urged to purchase tickets early for CPL matches

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH the Limacol Caribbean Premier League set to bowl off over the weekend in Grenada, ticket sales for the Federation’s leg of the tournament are going very slow at this time, but the Local Organising Committee is expecting it to pick up very soon.

The tournament, dubbed the “Biggest Party in Sport”, is making its debut in the Federation and local officials are banking on this new concept of the game to attract many spectators.

Speaking with SKNVibes today (July 10), Senior Sports Officer at the Ministry of Sports, Vernon Springer stated that “ticket sales at this time are going slowly but will soon be building up”.

He noted that ticket offices around Basseterre are open daily and patrons are urged to get their tickets early before they are all sold out, since they are expected to be snapped up quickly as the matches draw nearer.

The government official noted that tickets for match days with two games are priced at EC$20 for adults and EC$10 for children, and that the double-headers are slated for the 7th, 9th and 10th of August at Warner Park.

“The Limacol Premier League’s box office is open in Warner Park Cricket Stadium right in front of the NHC. For the first part, the hours would run from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. daily. And with that you have the Digicel outlets in St. Kitts and Nevis, which more or less would give us the opportunity to be able to maximise on the interest that has been generated thus far,” Springer explained.

To this end, he noted that unlike other ticket outlets around the Federation, popular furniture giant Courts would only be selling tickets for the Semi-Finals and Finals.

Springer declared that boat operators would not to be left out of the CPL as negotiation are ongoing with them to create packages to have persons transported to and from both islands on match days.

“The boat operators, both in St. Kitts and Nevis, are already in discussion and negotiations are taking place for them to purchase tickets and to come up with remarkable packages for folks coming down from Nevis for the 2014 CPL.”

He reiterated that the public should purchase tickets early, and that there are packages available for individuals who would be interested in purchasing season tickets or tickets to all 10 matches at a discount price.

“In terms of ticket sales, it’s a welcome sign and we are making sure and appealing to folks in St. Kitts and Nevis to buy your tickets early. Standing is EC$178, Seating is EC$238 and the Party Stand is EC$1 490.”

He declared that the government negotiated with the CPL Committee to have the tickets sold at a discounted price within the Federation.

“We wanted this event to be for and about the people of St. Kitts and Nevis. Because of the over US$4 million infrastructure, we wanted to work closely with the CPL organisers to make sure that this is an event for the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.”

Springer stated that sales are expected to pick up, especially with request coming from the international market for the tickets.
