Man Killed in Front of Adult Entertainment Nightclub

    St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. - Major Crime Detectives on St. Thomas are investigating a homicide that occurred at about 2:40 a.m. Saturday, March 7, in front of the Lexus Adult Entertainment Nightclub in Estate Smith Bay. 28-year-old Phillip John George was killed and two male victims were wounded in an apparent exchange of gunfire.

     

    Following the shooting, VIPD officials collaborated with officers from the Department of Health and closed the club until further notice pending the completion of safety inspections, according to Deputy Chief Dwayne DeGraff.

     

    One victim was shot in the left leg and the other was grazed by a bullet to his head. No other information about the victims was available from the preliminary reports.

     

    Police continue to gather information about the shooting. They are urging anyone having any information on this homicide to call the Major Crime Detectives at 715-5522 or 715-5514.

    In an unrelated incident, Police on St. Thomas received a 911 emergency call about 3:15 Saturday, March 7 from a concerned citizen informing them of a man hanging from a tree in Fortuna Bay.

     

    Preliminary investigation indicates that the white male, 38 years of age, committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree. A concerned citizen attempted to save him but the victim had already expired. Police are withholding the victim's name pending notification of next of kin.
