Dozens turn out for HOPE Nevis second monthly walk

By: Nevis Bureau, SKNVibes

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – DOZENS of residents on Nevis turned up on Saturday (Mar. 7) for the second monthly walk organised by the HOPE Nevis organisation.

The walk, from Newcastle to Charlestown, saw participants braving light rainfall on their way to the Cultural Centre where breakfast, organised as a fund-raiser for HOPE Nevis, awaited them.

Minister of Health Hensley Daniel was among the walkers and urged those present at the end to bring along two friends for the next occasion. He said the more persons walk the less money his ministry would be required to spend on the health of the nation.

The event was sponsored by MASA Air Ambulance Service whose Eastern Caribbean Regional Director Aaron Mitchell said the company was happy to be associated with the event.

He said MASA is part of the health industry and would support the initiative since it promotes good health. Mitchell said that if more people participate in the walk then they would probably have less use for his services.

HOPE Nevis is the only MASA Air Ambulance Service-sponsored charity organisation in the Federation.

Also among those who participated in the walk was Minister of Agriculture Robelto Hector and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Joseph Wiltshire.
