BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER nine days of investigation, police have arrested and charged two young men with the shooting death of Collin ‘Izum’ Matthew.

Denzil ‘Para’ Williams and Bernard Berry, two of the three men who the police had released a wanted bulletin, were yesterday (Mar. 10) formally arrested and charged for the murder of Matthew.

Matthew, who was laid to rest yesterday afternoon at the Springfield Cemetery, was shot multiple times while in a rental car (RA 16) on Catherine Julius Street, Ponds Extension in the vicinity of the basketball court sometime after 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2. He was taken to the Joseph N France General Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds at approximately 5:20 p.m. on the same day.

On Friday, March 6, Barbadian Pathologist, Dr. Stephen Jones performed a post mortem examination on Matthew body and reported that he died as a result of gunshot injuries to the chest and abdomen with haemorrhage and shock.

Meanwhile, Williams’ father, Denzil Williams Sr., is of the view that his son was wrongfully charged and is being “setup”. He is also annoyed over an incident that involved another of his sons, who claims that members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force had harassed him after illegally entering his Fort Thomas Street home.
