Press Release
Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 7th, 2005 Over 100,000 yachting enthusiasts are to attend one of the largest boat shows in the world, at which the St. Kitts Tourism Authority will be present.  The Le Grand Pavois in La Rochelle, France, is the event.

Manager of Product Development at the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Mr. Randolph Hamilton, is leading a delegation from St. Kitts, which includes Clinton Percival of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Phillip Walwyn and Michael Wyatt of the local boating industry. The delegation joins representatives from the nautical and tourism industries from within the OECS, who have all partnered to have a collaborative sub-regional presence at the marine event.

The main objective of the boat show for St. Kitts is to educate the 100,000 patrons about the destination and what it has to offer them as visitors in general.  It is intended to inform them about the nautical and boating activity on the island, plans for development of the yachting sector and also to learn best practices for such development.

In speaking to the benefits of participating in the event, Product Development Manager, Randolph Hamilton said, the yachting industry is extremely lucrative and therefore has great potential for considerable socio-economic impact on the island.  Our presence at the Le Grand Pavois in France is the beginning of St. Kitts and Nevis creating the opportunity for a greater market presence in the regional and international boating market place.

The St. Kitts Tourism Authoritys mandate includes the development and promotion of the islands tourism product.
