BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - LOCAL sprint sensation Antoine Adams is looking back on his 2014 season and is acknowledging that he is pleased with his own performances, despite not achieving some of his set goals.

In an exclusive interview with SKNVibes, Adams stated that his 2014 season ended last month.

“My last race was in Brazil on August 15th. I was supposed to go to Europe to compete in some more races but my coach and I decided to end it and rest up and focus on next year.

“The season was excellent I can’t complain. The only thing is, I still am disappointed in not breaking the 10-econd and 20-second barriers. This year was my first time participating in an individual final at an international event at the 100m final at the Commonwealth Games. That was a major achievement this season.”

Adams also reflected on what he learnt throughout the season.

“I learnt a lot this season…learnt a lot about my body in terms of traveling and competing so much over a short period of time. From the end of May…I was going to a different country every week running and competing…I had to learn how to deal with it.”

He further stated that the next three years will be the most critical for his career.

“Me and my coach have discussed what we have to do next year to run nine seconds and 19 seconds but all in all, it was a good season for me.

“The next three years will be crucial to my career, next year is world championships and the other year is Olympics and then world championships again after that. The next three years will be real critical for me.”

Adams placed fourth in the 100m finals in the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He clocked a 10.16-second time in a race that was won by Kemar Bailey-Cole (10 seconds) of Jamaica.
