Ian ’Patches’ Liburd

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - UNITY Candidate for Constituency Number One, Ian ‘Patches’ Liburd has stated that he is not concerned about the alleged stealing of his campaign ideas, and is taking the positives from the situation.

Speaking with this publication, Liburd stated that he and his colleagues will continue to bring their plans to the fore throughout their election campaign.

“We have views for and against Team Unity releasing their ideas. I am one who believe that as an alternative government, we have to tell people what we are going to do.

“You can’t wait until the bell rings to bring your programmes, your policies and your ideas. In a two-week campaign you going to bring in the big bands and have a party… That is not a time for people to examine your ideas.

He further stated that the fact that the government has resorted to plagiarising Team Unity’s plans shows that they have run out of concepts of their own

“What I can say in addition to what he has done? If we bring our ideas and he steals them, it means he is bankrupt of ideas and it also means that we are worthy of being in government because we are actually running government from outside of government.”

Liburd promised that if they are elected as the new government of St. Kitts and Nevis, they would be proactive rather than reactive.

We spoke about the hospital because of security and because something happened, they are now putting into place what we had recommended, which means we are actually running government from outside of government and that is a good thing. Imagine what will happen when we get into office… We are not going to react, we are going to be a proactive government and so we laid out our Prosperity Agenda.”
