BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A vehicular accident which took place at Kittitian Hill earlier today (Oct. 17) has claimed the life of one of their employees and has left three others at the hospital with serious injuries.

Information reaching this publication indicates that the incident occurred just after 2:00p.m. and involved a forklift and a golf cart.

Reliable sources have told SKNVibes that both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions on the compound when they collided while going around a corner or while taking a bend in road.

The forklift was reportedly driven by Rolston Blaire of Buckley’s Site and the golf cart was reportedly driven by Charles Thompson of Crab Hill, Sandy Point.

SKNVibes understands that Blaire suffered no injuries from the accident but the three other occupants of the golf cart were transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital and are nursing serious injuries.

Thompson was being transported to the Pogson Hospital in Sandy Point and en route, he succumbed to his injuries.

A statement which is said to have been issued by Kittitian Hill explains the incident has caused some sadness in the Kittitian Hill family.

“The Kittitian Hill Community is deeply saddened by the tragic death of Charles Thompson during an unfortunate accident on the site… Mr. Thompson succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the traffic accident.”

The statement further indicates that a “full investigation in cooperation with the Royal St. Christopher (and Nevis) Police Force… While the investigation is currently underway with the local police force, a detailed report shall be provided as soon as the review is complete”.

Via the release, Thompson has been described as “a stellar employee” and condolences have been extended to his family.

Thompson has worked as a mechanic at Kittitian Hill for the past seven months.

“Those who worked with him in the short time he had been at Kittitian Hill remember him for his enthusiasm, compassion, engaging and friendly manner.”
