BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN ex-soldier is currently in police custody after being found last night (Nov. 14) with an illegal firearm and a quantity of matching rounds of ammunition in Cayon.
Information reaching SKNVibes states that whilst patrolling along the Island Main Road in Cayon at approximately 7:30 p.m., police had stopped a young man who was riding a bicycle in the vicinity of De Green Valley Pub.
The officers reportedly conducted a body search of the young man, which resulted in the find of a pistol and a quantity of matching rounds hidden on his person.
The young man, who is said to be an ex-soldier residing at Water Works in Cayon, was taken into custody and is currently held at the Basseterre Police Station.
Speaking this morning with the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Lyndon David, he confirmed that the incident did occur and noted that “a man was found in possession of a firearm and a quantity of matching ammunition and is in police custody”.
He also informed that charges would be made shortly and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
