BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN unidentified man was this morning (Mar. 24) shot and killed by the police in the confines of a private residence in the Bird Rock area.
Information reaching SKNVibes states that around 6:30 this morning, the man was shot in the yard of Hester Rawlins, Chief Fire Officer of the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services.
On arrival at the scene, this media house met a number of police officers but could not have gained any information from the most senior investigating officer at the time. However, a motionless body, covered with a white cloth, was seen on the ground near to the eastern fence of the premises.
Speaking with SKNVibes, a student of the Windsor University who resides in one of the apartments of the building said he was in bed when the incident occurred.
“At approximately 6:30, while in my bed, I heard voices out in the yard for about 10 seconds…and shortly I heard the sound of a gunshot. This was followed by two more and shortly after I heard a male voice calling out for Mrs. Rawlins,” the student said.
When contacted, Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Cromwell Henry confirmed that the man was shot by a member of the police force. He also stated that the deceased was an intruder and promised to provide more information when investigations would have been completed.
