Harris: Brother’s suspension is cruel act of aggression

Lenworth ‘Len’ Harris (L) and the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris is convinced that the recent suspension of his brother Lenworth ‘Len’ Harris, General Manager of the Development Bank, is part of “a continuing programme of victimisation against my family…”

Harris expressed this view to SKNVibes yesterday (Jan. 14), one day after news of his brother’s suspension broke.

According to Len Harris, he received a letter on Wednesday last (Jan. 7) indicating that he is on suspension. The letter was received one day before he was to have returned to work, having been sent on what was described as a six-month period of “forced vacation”.

Dr. Harris, who has long charged that a number of his siblings are feeling the brunt of victimisation because he has taken a stance against the ruling Dr. Denzil Douglas Administration, described this recent event as “a cruel act of aggression by a leader who is on his way out”.

“The disappointing part is that these are qualified persons, imminently qualified for the jobs they have assigned, and in an effort, by and large, to get at me Dr. Douglas is fulfilling his vendetta against my family. I believe that it is another reason why people need healing and need a new dispensation that is going to lead to healing, reconciliation and an end to victimisation.

“This is one matter which we intend to put before the people of St. Kitts and Nevis and to ask that they give Team Unity the chance to begin the process for reconciliation and healing and ending the victimisation that has become too rife in the present political market place.”

The Team Unity Leader offered thanks to those who have remembered him and his family during difficult times such as this and pledged to remain strong.

“I want to place on record my thanks and appreciation for the well wishes extended to me and to my family members during this troubling time and to say that we will remain strong, we will remain focused, we will remain united as a family, notwithstanding the aggression that is being mounted against us.”

Harris told this publication that as far as he is award, the matter of the suspension of his brother is “under legal review”.

Len Harris has been the General Manager of the Development Bank since 2007 and has been working at the institution since 2001.
