BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT has been confirmed to SKNVibes that the second Report of the Constituency Boundaries Commission has been signed by three of the five members on the Commission and is expected to be laid before the Parliament this afternoon (Jan. 16).
According to Commission member Senator Vincent Byron Jr., the Report was signed by the Hon. Marcella Liburd, Hon. Hon. Dr. Asim Martin and Chairman of the Commission Peter Jenkins, but he and fellow Opposition member Hon. Vance Amory did not.
Byron also disclosed that he has reasons to believe that the emergency sitting of Parliament is to table the Report.
Parliament is currently in session amidst controversy with Members on the Opposition Benches objecting to Parliamentary Representative for Constituency Six, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas reading of the resolution.
Parliamentary Representative for Constituency Eight, the Hon. Eugene Hamilton was asked by the Speaker to leave the Honourable House following his constant interruption while Dr. Douglas was reading the resolution.
Meanwhile, a large number of Labour supporters are currently in Church Street and Team Unity has sounded a call for its supporters to gather at the top of Fort Street.
So far, the resolution has already been read and Members of the Opposition are seeking reasons from the Speaker why he allowed Dr. Douglas to read the resolution before Hamilton could have concluded his argument.
