BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TEAM Unity’s candidate for Constituency Two, Jonel Powell said that he is enthusiastic ahead of Nomination Day and claims that he is anxious to see his name on the ballot.
In an exclusive interview with SKNVibes, Powell indicated that his mood is likened to that of exctement ahead of Nomination Day, which is slated for on Friday (Feb. 6).
“I am very excited! I can’t wait to be nominated and I can’t wait to be on that ballot.”
The young Attorney-at-Law declared that the number one priority is taking care of those in his Constituency.
“I believe that my agenda is solid. My heart and my mind are in the right place in terms of putting the people of Central Basseterre first. And I have one message for them: ‘Better days are coming!’”
Powell took a swipe at his political opponent, the Hon. Marcella Liburd, by listing, what he termed, some of her shortcomings.
“I believe the people of the Constituency have been neglected over the last five years. The increased number of abandon and rundown homes in the constituency show that there is no more representation.
“She has completely let down the people and failed in the job she was elected to do. Some of her failures are evidenced in the crime situation in Central Basseterre and the conditions at the Basseterre High School where many children from Central Basseterre attend. What has she done? Nothing!”
Powell, who is one of the two Deputy Leaders of the People’s Action Movement, will be contesting his first election under the banner of the tri-party coalition of Team Unity.
