BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A repeated word of caution to motorists is being given by a senior member of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force following a two-vehicle accident that took place near Conyers yesterday (Feb. 6).

The incident took place at 7:00 a.m. and involved motor omnibus HA96 which was being driven by Jason Herbert of Cardin Avenue and motor jeep P4330 which was being driven by Elroy Martin.

District ‘B’ Commander Superintendent Cromwell Henry told SKNVibes that according to investigations, both vehicles were travelling towards Sandy Point’s direction, with the jeep in front.

He said while the jeep was attempting to make a right turn into the road that leads to Conyers, the motor omnibus was attempting overtake it and in the process hit the right side of the jeep, ran off the road, collided with a utility pole and came to a halt after running into a wall fence.

Superintendent Henry informed that one of two passengers in the omnibus had suffered minor bruises and complained of back pain.

The front of the omnibus was extensively damaged while the jeep was slightly damage on the right side.

    Investigations are ongoing.

The District ‘B’ Commander told SKNVibes that it is imperative that drivers not only drive for themselves but to also do so for others; to be aware of other road users and pedestrians and to govern themselves accordingly.

He said if all road users drive with other road users in mind, the rate of accidents and traffic mishaps would be reduced.
