By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN unnamed individual is being sought by police as they seek to solve the case of the shooting incident that took place Saturday night (Mar. 28) and left one male nursing injuries.

A young man identified as Vernon ‘Les’ Elliott of St. Johnston’s Village was outside his home Saturday evening around 10:00 p.m. when a vehicle drove through the area and fired shots upon the group of men he was with. Elliot was injured during the onslaught and taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he was treated for gunshot wounds.

A press release issued by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Cromwell Henry, indicates that Elliott and a group of men were engaged in a game of pool when the vehicle approached.

“At about 10:20 p.m., Police responded to a report of shooting at St. Johnston Village.  Investigations reveal that a group of young men was playing pool under a shed outside a shop at St. Johnson Village when a motorcar stopped in front of the shop.  A male got out of the car and opened fire on the men.”

The release informs that Elliot was shot “in the lower part of his body” and was detained at the hospital in “stable condition”.

The Police are appealing to anyone with information on this shooting incident to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 465-2241 ext. 220, 230 and 236. They have reminded that information could be given on condition of anonymity and would be treated with the strictest confidence.

While he confirmed that an individual is being sought in relation to the incident, Inspector Henry said he could not reveal the individual’s identity.

Investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
