BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ATHLETES of Cayon Primary School were at the St. Mary’s Park in Cayon where they showcased to the public the abilities and potential they possess as the learning institution’s four houses battled for supremacy.

However, it was the athletes from Red House who were in celebration mode as they were victorious at the event held on Friday (Mar. 6).

The afternoon kicked off with a parade of athletes who also rendered the National Anthem.

Leading Red House’s charge was Dekrawnya McSheene who dominated the Under-13 Girls category while setting records in the 60, 200 and 100 metres events to underline her status as one of the top young sprint talent in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Also impressing was Xavian Christopher of Red House who dominated the Under-13 Boys category, winning the 800, 200, 400 and 100 metres events as well as anchoring the 4x100 metres for his house and almost pulling off an improbable come from behind victory.

Gold House’s Josena Williams captured crowns in the 800 and 400 metres and finished second to Mcsheene in the 200 and 100 metres.

Judging from the performances witnessed at the day’s event, many spectators are of the view that the athletes would be a force to reckoned with at the RAMS Inter-Primary School Championships, which will be held at the Silver Jubilee Stadium.

Cayon Primary was last crowned champions of the RAMS Inter-Primary School competition in 2012.
