BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MARCH 31ST 2009 (CUOPM) – Hundreds of persons turned out last Saturday to participate in a Whistle Stop” as part of the celebration of 20 years in the National Assembly of St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and his Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Sam Condor.

The 250-car Whistle Stop, which astounded the organisers, left the Patsy Allers Recreation Ground in Constituency #3 (West Basseterre), whose Parliamentary Representative is the Hon. Sam Condor and travelled through the western part of St. Kitts via Old Road (Constituency #4) and Sandy Point (Constituency #5) to St. Paul’s and Saddler’s (Constituency #6) whose Parliamentary Representative is Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.

Prime Minister Douglas and Deputy Prime Minister, both elected to the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly on March 21st 1989 used the opportunity to thank the residents of their respective constituencies for the support over the years.

As the Whistle Stop wend its way to Saddler’s for the Rally, hundreds of villagers came out of their homes, waved from their verandas and lined and danced in the streets along the route.

Responding to the huge turnout, Prime Minister Douglas during the Rally on the Saddlers Lawn on Saturday night described the Whistle Stop as the “the Mother of All Whistle Stops.”

“This was not a Baby Whistle Stop,” said Dr. Douglas as he extended congratulations to the organisers and said the turnout at the Whistle Stop and Rally are an indication that his governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party is headed for a fourth term.
