Another firearm, ammo off the streets

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN their continuous effort to reduce crime in the twin-island Federation, members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have removed yet another firearm and a quantity of ammunition off the streets.

     

    A police release stated that three individuals are in custody following a body search that revealed the find of a loaded pistol.

    The find, the release stated, occurred during an operation that was launched by members of the Special Services Unit (SSU) on Friday (Mar. 6) in the Springfield Cemetery.

    Acting on intelligence and surveillance, the officers searched a number of persons in the cemetery and uncovered one 1 loaded semi-automatic pistol. “The firearm and ammunition and three (3) persons were taken into police custody”.

    Head of the SSU, Inspector Travis Rogers thanked all those persons who were instrumental in the operation and encouraged members of the public to continue to provide information to the police.

    This media house learned that the firearm was a Glock Pistol.

    Just three days earlier, members of a routine Delta Squad patrol stopped and searched two young men from St. Paul’s Village who were travelling in the opposite on a four-wheel ATV on the outskirts of Cayon in the vicinity of Windsor University.

    A body search was conducted on both of them and a 9mm pistol with a quantity of matching rounds of ammunition was found on the pillion rider.

    The two men, along with the pistol, ammunition and ATV were taken into custody.

    And on Sunday (Mar. 1), another firearm was taken off the streets, which is suspected to have been involved in the murder of Jason Bradshaw-Francis of Grove Village, St. Paul’s who was attacked by three armed, masked assailants at Rawlins Housing Project.
