By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE spate of gun-related incidents occurring within the Federation continued this afternoon (Mar. 9) at Lower Westbourne Ghaut where a young man was shot while he was reportedly going to his home.

SKNVibes made contact with Public Relations Officer for the RSCNPF, Inspector Lyndon David and asked if he could confirm that the incident occurred to which he answered in the negative.

The incident however, reportedly occurred sometime after 2:00 p.m. and when SKNVibes visited the scene it was observed that two vehicles of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF), along with at least five police officers, were at the un-cordoned crime scene.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the victim rode up the road on a bicycle and was approached by a vehicle from which gunshots were fired.

Further reports suggest that when the vehicle had further advanced, a number of individuals emerged and continued firing at the victim. They reportedly fled via the same vehicle.

The injured man was reportedly able to escape the incident with his life but was shot in the process. It is said that he was able to seek refuge in a nearby house.

Sources indicate that the individual was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment.

Bullet holes were observed on a house in the area and it was also observed that a number of spent shells were collected by the investigating officers.
