    Decoration at Government Headquarters

     

    BASSETERRE
    , ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 25TH 2005   Sections of Basseterre were being decorated over the weekend, ahead of this weeks State Visit to the Federation of the President of the Republic of China, (Taiwan) His Excellency Chen Shui-bian.
    Church Street, outside of Government Headquarters, inside Government Headquarters, the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, St. Pauls Village and the new Sporting Complex, financed by  Taiwan; and Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, were being decorated in the National and Taiwanese flags and colours, said Stanly Franks Jr., who is in charge of logistical arrangements for the visit.
     
    President Chen is visiting at the invitation of St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas from September 27th to 28th 2005.

    President Chen Shui-bian will pay courtesy calls on St. Kitts and Nevis Governor General, His Excellency Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian and Prime Minister Douglas before attending several significant ceremonies.

    One of the many highlights of the Presidents visit is the ceremony for the signing of the Joint Communiqué between President Chen and Prime Minister Douglas at the Brimstone Hill Fortress - a UNESCO Heritage Site - on Wednesday, 28th September 2005.

    The Joint Communiqué will further solidify the relationship between the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan).

    Other programmes for the State Visit include, an Award Ceremony and State Banquet at Government House hosted by Sir Cuthbert, and the Ribbon-cutting ceremony at the St. Pauls Sporting Complex with Prime Minister Douglas.

    The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan) established diplomatic relations on September 1983 and since then, both countries have enjoyed very strong cordial relationship.
