BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – “I was really enjoying it; I was excited and couldn’t wait to see who became the Employee of the Month. The Committee came on the production floor blowing whistles, beating on boxes and shouting ‘employee of the month’.”
It was Venora Francis of the Super Trap Line who was named Kajola Kristada’s Employee of the Month for February 2015.
She served on the Employee of the Month Committee for some time and only in January 2015 she completed her duties there. And to hear that one month after she was selected to be the Employee of the Month, sFrancis describes the news as “unexpected” and “surprising”.
“I didn’t expect it to be me because I was on the Committee for a while and I had just come off of it. They went down the production floor and came back up and when I looked I saw them stop by me and it was amazing. I laughed, got up out of the chair, and began feeling hot. Someone brought a fan to me to cool me down. I couldn’t believe it”, the 46-year-old told SKNVibes.
Although in 2005 she was named Kajola’s Employee of the Year, Francis said winning this award still felt different from the previous.
Francis said as a member of the Committee she had to be aware of the criteria by which the candidates are selected and that knowledge translated into her work ethic and eventually became a part of her.
The February 2015 Employee of the Month describes herself as a dedicated worker who goes above and beyond the call of duty.
In her advice to prospective Employees of the Month, Francis said: “Hope is there for everyone. If you are a good employee things will come to you. Just utilise your timing, behaviour etc.”
Francis has been showered with congratulatory comments from her fellow line workers and co-workers. She has also received special commendation from her 20-year-old daughter who said she is proud of her mother’s achievement.
Congratulations Venora.
